Follow Up, Follow Up, Follow Up If You Are Running A Clinical Research Clinic and Are Asking Your Employees To Do Anything!

This is anecdotal experience from one of my clients. The Site Director told one of his study coordinators to fill out and complete a CLIA waiver. Months later when the Site Director asked the coordinator about the CLIA waiver, the study coordinator told him that he was too busy to do it and because of the fact that NO ONE FOLLOWED UP with him, he assumed it was not a pressing matter at the time. The takeaway message here is if you are running a research clinic, don’t assume that your employees know what you know, and don’t make them guess as to what tasks are important. If you are expecting an important task to get completed, make sure you follow up with your coordinators regularly. This is also a pretty good way to train new staff on what is important in a clinical trial facility.
PS- And this is not a joke, stay tuned for my “Follow Up, Follow Up, Follow Up” tee shirts that I am currently getting made and will have available for sale and for giveaway contests very soon on this site!
